Bearing Technologies Adds Depth To PressureGuard Team

Tire inflation system pioneer joined by sales, marketing veterans

AVON, OH –Three heavy duty trucking veterans with 55 years of combined experience have been appointed by Bearing Technologies, LLC (BT) to head up the PressureGuard™ product line. The new team includes PressureGuard’s inventor, Clyde Stech, along with Bill Lease and Corey George, who join PressureGuard from BT’s subsidiary, North Coast Bearings. “We are thrilled to expand our team with professionals of this high caliber,” said BT Executive V.P. Brian Graziadei.

Acquired by BT in 2007, PressureGuard is an automatic tire inflation system using a heavy duty trailer’s existing air supply to automatically inflate and maintain tires at a constant optimum pressure.  Underinflated tires significantly reduce tire life and fuel economy, costing fleets a significant amount in maintenance and fuel costs annually. Central tire inflation systems were pioneered over 25 years ago by Clyde Stech, who will continue those efforts with PressureGuard. Stech also is responsible for developing new tire inflation products and providing technical support.

As PressureGuard Sales Manager, Corey George is responsible for setting up the line’s distribution network and working with fleet customers. Bill Lease is the PressureGuard Marketing Manager, responsible for coordinating branding efforts, and providing additional product support.

“The heavy duty experience Bill and Corey gained at NCB, combined with Clyde’s visionary development of tire inflation systems, result in a unique synergy that will benefit heavy duty fleets,” said Graziadei. “We expect greener, more energy-efficient, cost-saving innovations to come from PressureGuard very soon,” he added, noting that plans call for launching an enhanced tire inflation system for trailers in the near future and innovative truck and tractor products later in 2009.

PressureGuard and North Coast Bearings are subsidiaries of Bearing Technologies LLC, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and private labelers of wheel hub assemblies and clutch release, racing, repair and specialty bearings. One of the most durable tire inflation systems available, PressureGuard was acquired from the Reineke Company, Inc. in 2007, and its operations have been consolidated within BT’s ISO 9001 Certified Avon, OH facility. North Coast Bearings is the industry leader in supplying differential and transmission rebuild kits to the Heavy Duty and Automotive markets. North Coast Bearings is primarily marketed under the DT Components® brand, which is a registered trademark of The Timken Company.

BEARING TECHNOLOGIES ACQUIRES NORTH COAST BEARINGS

AVON, OH – February 14, 2008 – Bearing Technologies, Ltd. (BT), a leading manufacturer and private labeler of wheel hub assemblies and clutch release, racing, repair and industrial bearings, has acquired North Coast Bearings, Inc. (NCB), a major supplier of differential and transmission rebuild kits, bearings and related components. It is BT’s third major acquisition in the past five years.

“Last year, we solidified a corporate growth plan called ‘One-Ten by Twenty-Ten,’ and this acquisition signifies a major step towards reaching our goal of $110 million in annual sales by YR2010,” said BT President and CEO Laz Tromler, who announced the acquisition this morning. “This is a very synergistic relationship and we anticipate a virtually seamless transition with no effect on customers or suppliers.”

BT’s purchase of NCB enables both companies to expand their product offerings in the automotive and heavy-duty truck aftermarkets and diversify into other mobile markets.

For the past 15 years, BT has been manufacturing hub assemblies and wheel end components sold under private label by the world’s leading suppliers. Their brands include the Green Bearing line of clutch, rear axle repair, specialized racing and industrial bearings, as well as the PressureGuard™ line of central tire inflation systems. Additionally, BT manufactures OEM driveshaft center support bearings for the heavy-duty market.

NCB is the leading full line supplier of transmission and differential rebuild kits to the North American aftermarket. Through a strategic alliance with The Timken Company, they market the DT Components®* line of premium transmission, differential and transfer case rebuild kits and components for light and heavy-duty truck applications. Other NCB products include center support bearings, ring and pinion sets, axle shafts and u-joints, as well as the Precision Automotive brand of bearings, seals and CV axles for passenger cars and light trucks.  In addition to their Cleveland area headquarters, NCB has five distribution centers throughout North America.

NCB’s capabilities complement those of BT. Both companies provide a high degree of value-added content through specialized and custom packaging options, consistently high fill rates and quick order turn. BT also offers extensive product validation testing, resulting in products meeting the highest quality standards. Products are engineered and manufactured to customers’ specifications in ISO 9001:2000 or TS16949 certified facilities and delivered on a just-in-time basis, eliminating excess inventories while controlling labor and assembly costs.
